MOWRYSTOWN — It may have taken longer than anyone wanted it to take, but the wait is officially over. The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats no longer have to wait for their first win because on Thursday night they earned the victory, a 52-39 win against West Union.
The win, which came in front of their home crowd, was not close coming in the fourth quarter as WHS, who led by 15 in the final quarter, lost 14 of those points, to lead 40-39.
All of the hard work this season by WHS paid off as they didn't get down and went on a 12-0 run for the Southern Hills League win.
The win puts WHS at 1-13 overall and 1-7 in the Southern Hills League.
"I'm really proud of the girls. We played a triangle and two tonight," WHS head coach Mike Cooper said. "Our girls worked so hard on the defensive end."
WHS led 10-7 after the first quarter and 23-14 at halftime. In the third, the Lady 'Cats outscored WU, 17-11 for a lead of 40-25.
