Justice for All: Peebles defeats Wildcats in SHL battle

MOWRYSTOWN — The Whiteoak Wildcats kept the game close, but the one-loss Peebles Indians kept their top spot in Division II of the Southern Hills League with a 61-57 win at WHS.
Peebles' Blake Justice led all scorers with a game-high 24 points, going a perfect 12-of-12 from the free-throw line. He also made two 3-pointers and two two-point baskets.
Andy Countryman followed Justice with 15 points for PHS. Daniels netted 10 points for the Indians.
After one quarter, PHS led 13-8, but WHS came back in the second quarter to outscore PHS, 15-9. WHS led at the half by a score of 23-22.
In the third quarter, PHS regained the lead with a 16-point effort, while holding WHS to 12 points. The final eight minutes was full of scoring with PHS winning the quarter, 23-22.
The Wildcats also had three players finish in double figures with Joe Michael leading the way for the WHS with 18 points. He made eight field goals and two free throws.
Mike Carraher followed with 14 points for the Wildcats, going 2-of-2 from the free-throw line, along with two 3-pointers. He added three two-point baskets.
Doc Seip finished with 10 points, making five two-point shots.
Also scoring for WHS was Wes Stratton with seven points, going 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. Gage Carraher scored three points along with Luke Taggert, who sank a 3-pointer for his scoring total. Logan Morris scored two points.
For the game, WHS was 10-of-18 from the free-throw line, while PHS was 25-of-33.
