Tiger golf defeats Massie
Behind the solid 1-over-par 36 by J.T. Bunner, the McClain Tiger boys golf team defeated, on the road, the Clinton-Massie Falcons 168-179 this past Thursday in South Central Ohio League play.
Bunner led MHS with a 36. He was followed by Jeff Baker-Hester 39, Caleb Cockerill 47, Tanner Vanzant 49, Jacob Branham 46 and Jimmy Barnett 52.
On Saturday the Tigers placed third out of six teams at the Zane Trace Invitational at Jaycees Golf Course.
The Tigers shot 349 as a team on the par 72 course, with Bunner finishing with an 81 score in 18 holes. Other scores included: Jeff Baker-Hester 87, Caleb Cockerill 92, Tanner Vanzant 95, Jacob Branham 90 and Dustin Taylor 91.
Final team scores included: 1, Amanda Clearcreek 329; 2, Zane Trace 338; 3, McClain 349; 4, Circleville 373; 5, Chillicothe 413; 6, Zane Trace (JV) 400.
Upcoming MHS matches: Sept. 21 vs. Hillsboro; Sept. 22 vs. Washington; Sept. 24 SCOL at Crown Hill.
“This is a big week for us as far as the league goes. Hillsboro will be coming in to try to tie the league and Washington Court House will be hungry to get revenge for the narrow three stroke win we got last time,” MHS coach Tim Bolender said. “Washington Court House won our invitational earlier this year, so they have played this course well. Thursday at Crown Hill is huge. Regardless of what we do on this week, the 18 holes on Thursday will determine it all.”
