OU football alumni Ouellette and Sayles named 2023 CFL Division All-Stars

Ohio University football alumni AJ Ouellette and Casey Sayles were named to the Canadian Football League 2023 Division All-Stars teams, as announced by the league Thursday (Nov. 2).

Both competed against each other in the CFL's 109th Grey Cup (Nov. 20, 2022) at Mosaic Stadium, with Ouellette and the Toronto Argonauts coming out on top.

Sayles (Omaha, Neb.) signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in Feb. 2023 after making his CFL debut with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

With the Bobcats, Sayles suited up for 45 games, amassing 111 tackles and earning Second Team All-MAC in 2016.

So far in the 2022 season, Sayles has recorded 36 tackles, fix sacks and two forced fumbles.
 
Ouellette (Covington, Ohio) signed with the Argonauts as a free agent in Sept. 2019, making his CFL debut on Oct. 18. During his debut game, Ouellette registered a 36-yard run, the longest that season for the Argonauts.

While at Ohio, Ouellette played in 50 games, rushing over 1,000 yards in both his redshirt junior and redshirt senior years. He was named First Team All-MAC as a senior and Second Team All-MAC as a junior.

The Division All-Stars were selected by the local voting members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) in their respective division's markets and the National Chapter, the division's head coaches, and fans, who took part in this year's selections through the All-Star Fan Vote, powered by the league's Official Data and Technology Partner Genius Sports.

The 2023 CFL All-Stars will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 8.
