Information on the March 13 Round Ball Reunion

Courtesy of Bob Pittser

Time is nearing for the Round Ball Reunion at Wilmington College, on Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 p.m.

So far, we have had a great response from players, cheerleaders, managers and coaches who plan to attend. As of March 2, we have over 100 people of the groups listed above who are planning to attend, with 20% of those being cheerleaders.

Following is a tentative agenda:

6-6:30 p.m. – Those bringing memorabilia should arrive and set up items, such as pictures, albums, newspaper articles, old programs, and trophies.

6:30-7 p.m. – Time for socializing with friends and browsing the memorabilia.
7-7:15 p.m. – Everyone to find a seat, and Bob Pittser will give information on how the event came about and give a brief history of the Highland County basketball tournament.

7:15-7:45 p.m. – We will begin with Highland County schools: Belfast, Buford, Fairfield, Lynchburg, Marshall, Sinking Spring and Whiteoak. A representative from each school will give a 3-minute presentation of his/her school’s basketball history as it relates to the county tournaments. All the tournament participants from that school will join the representative up front. After the presentation, the speaker will introduce all participants present.

Suggestions for each school representative to mention during the 3-minute talk:

• How many county tournament championships that school won, and in what years. (if you are unsure, please contact Bob Pittser, who has this information.)

• Teams who won or were runners-up in district, regional, or state tournaments.

• Players present who made All-League.

• Players present who played on championship teams.

• Players present who scored 1,000 points or more in their high school careers.

• Players present who went on to play college sports…give the sport and which college.

• Any members who became head basketball coaches in high school or college, and anything else you consider appropriate or memorable.

7:45-8 p.m. – Short intermission. At this time, pictures will be taken for the Highland County championship team players and cheerleaders, all-league players, and 1,000-point scorers. At this time, attendees can take a restroom break, look at memorabilia, etc.

8-8:45 p.m. – Clinton County representatives will follow the same agenda as Highland County. Teams are: Adams, Blanchester, Clarksville, Jefferson, Kingman, Martinsville, New Vienna, Port William, Sabina, Simon Kenton and Wayne.

8:45-9 p.m. – Comments from Don DeVoe; Q & A session for Don and others.

Final reminders: I think it would be helpful to contact your school participants in advance of March 13 to remind them of the event. This event is open to the public with no charge.

There will be no food served. Bottled water will be available.

If you have not already told me the names of your school attendees, please let me know these by Friday, March 8. I need names, year of graduation, and for cheerleaders, their maiden names.

Note: We will have name tags in advance, but will also make them that night for anyone else who comes.

Any questions or comments, please contact me (Bob Pittser) at (937) 725-2821, or by email, pitt_ser@hotmail.com. You will want to take pictures of all the people and memorabilia.
