Blue Jays hire David Bell

The Toronto Blue Jays announced that David Bell has been hired as Vice President, Baseball Operations & Assistant General Manager.

Bell will oversee the Player Development and Physical & Mental Performance departments, while also contributing to major league strategic planning decisions and advising on player evaluations and acquisitions. Bell reports to Ross Atkins, EVP, Baseball Operations & General Manager and joins the Baseball Operations leadership team.

Bell spent the last six seasons as Manager of the Cincinnati Reds. Prior to managing the Reds, he spent a decade working in a variety of coaching and player development roles between the Reds, Cubs, Cardinals and Giants organizations.

The Cincinnati native enjoyed a 17-year professional career as an infielder with six different organizations, including suiting up for the Buffalo Bisons in 1995.
