Bengals sign Johnson to practice squad
The Cincinnati Bengals Wednesday signed DE Raymond Johnson III to the practice squad.
Johnson (6-3, 270), a second-year player out of Georgia Southern University, originally was a college free agent signee of the N.Y. Giants in 2021. He played in 15 games as a rookie for the Giants, totaling four tackles with one sack, then spent the past two seasons on the practice squads of Cincinnati (2022) and Detroit (’23).
He spent this past offseason with San Francisco and Jacksonville before being waived by the Jaguars on final cuts. He was not with an NFL team during the first six weeks of the season.
Johnson takes a practice squad spot which opened Tuesday when DE Isaiah Thomas signed with the Detroit Lions.
