Tigers’ dominant fifth inning leads to home win over Blue Lions; teams split regular-season series

The McClain Tigers split the regular-season series last week against the Washington Blue Lions in Frontier Athletic Conference play in their home-and-home games on Monday and Tuesday.
Monday wasn’t so great for the Tigers, falling 7-0 to Washington, but the great thing about baseball is they played again, and the very next day McClain won on their home field at Mitchell Park by an 11-1 score in five innings.
On Monday (April 21) the Tigers totaled four hits and had four errors, while the Blue Lions on their hime field finished with eight hits and had no errors.
Washington scored six runs in the bottom of the third, followed with a run in the fourth inning for their seven-run total.
For McClain, Conner Chandler (9) was 2-for-3 with a triple. Hudson Lovett finished with a 1-for-3 day at the plate, and Colton McNeal went 1-for-1.
Easton Ary was charged with the pitching loss, going three innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Chandler pitched three innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and one walk with three strikeouts.

Tuesday was a brand new day for the McClain Tigers, as this time on their home field they won in dominant fashion with one very strong inning, defeating the visiting Washington Blue Lions 11-1 in five innings.
Though McClain trailed 1-0 after the top of the first and through four and a half innings, it was the bottom of the fifth that was the game-winning inning for McClain, scoring 11 runs to give them the FAC win with a run-rule victory.
MHS finished the game with 10 hits and two errors, while the Blue Lions had five hits and one error.
Cohen Six finished the game at 2-for-3 with three RBI at the plate as he hit a double, plus he was hit by a pitch. Six was also the winning pitcher, going five innings on the mound where he allowed one run (unearned) on five hits and two walks. Six totaled nine strikeouts as he threw 92 pitches, 61 for strikes.
Carson Chandler also had two hits as he was 2-for-3 with one run. Conner Chandler was 1-for-2 with one run, one RBI and a walk. Hudson Lovett finished 1-for-2 with one run, three RBI and two walks.
Hunter Peabody ended the day at 1-for-2 with one run, one RBI and one walk. Kolton Lamb finished 1-for-3 with a run and one RBI.
The Tigers also had Matthew Cummins go 1-for-2 with two runs, one RBI and a walk. Easton Ary was 1-for-2 with two run, one RBI and he also forced a walk. Alex Perie finished the game with a walk, and Landen McNeal scored a run.
For the game, McClain forced seven walks.
The win moves McClain to an overall record of 3-8 with an FAC mark of 1-5.
