McClain softball bows out of postseason

The McClain Lady Tigers had their 2025 softball season come to a close Wednesday, May 14, as they lost their Division IV Southeast District first round game to the visiting Vinton County Lady Vikings by a 10-0 score in Greenfield. 

In the game played at Daryle Unger Field, the Lady Tigers had one hit, with that coming off the bat of Brie Cummins who finished 1-for-2 in the five-inning game. 

MHS also ended the game with two errors. VCHS finished with 10 hits and no errors. 

Vinton County began the game with a three-run first inning, followed with a run in the top of the third for a 3-0 lead. They added three more runs in the fourth inning, then scored another three runs in the top of the fifth for their 10-run win. 

The Lady Tigers finish the season with a 7-13 overall record. 

Seniors for McClain in 2025 are Lindsey Hutchinson, Kenzie Wise and Sarah Easter.
