Lady Tigers take 2 losses against Chillicothe

This past Tuesday (April 15) and Wednesday (April 16), the McClain Lady Tigers played in Frontier Athletic Conference games against the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers in a home-and-home series for the regular season, where Chillicothe won both games by scores of 12-2 and 14-11.
McClain on Tuesday lost on the road against the Lady Cavaliers, with CHS scoring runs early as the home team Lady Cavaliers led 3-0 after the first inning and 5-0 after the second inning. Both teams scored two runs in the third for a 7-2 Chillicothe lead.
From there, Chillicothe scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and four runs in the fifth inning. McClain finished with three hits and committed four errors. CHS had 12 hits and committed one error.
Gaining hits for McClain were Olivia Stegbauer, who was 1-for-2 with two RBI; Amaya Ryan, who went 1-for-2; and Hayley Worthen, as she was 1-for-2 with a run.
Also scoring a run for MHS was Emma Posey, who also drew a walk.
Pitching for MHS were Brie Cummins, who allowed two hits, three earned runs and she had two strikeouts. Worthen allowed four earned runs in four innings, finishing with two strikeouts.

The following day in Greenfield, the Lady Tigers made things very exciting in the bottom of the seventh inning by scoring eight runs, as they were narrowly defeated by Chillicothe by a 14-11 score in the FAC contest.
CHS build a lead of 7-0 with three runs in the top of the first, followed with consecutive two-run innings. MHS scored one run in the bottom of the third, only to have both teams score a run in the fourth inning, and the two teams repeated the feat in the fifth for a 9-3 CHS lead.
In the top of the sixth, Chillicothe added two runs to their total for an 11-3 lead over MHS, then that lead went to 14-3 as CHS scored three more runs in the top of the seventh.
McClain battled back with eight runs in the seventh, but the deficit was a little too much to overcome once the final out was recorded.
The game saw Chillicothe end the day with 14 hits and four errors, while McClain had eight hits and nine errors.
Milla Everetts had three of McClain’s hits, as the lead-off batter was 3-for-5 with two runs, and one of her hits was a double.
Brie Cummins was 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Leah Lovett finished 1-for-3 with a run, one RBI and a walk.
Lindsey Hutchinson finished the day at 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Hayley Worthen went 1-for-2 with a run and RBI. Emma Posey had a day where she was 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk.
Olivia Stegbauer finished with a run, two RBI and a walk. Teammate Amaya Ryan scored a run and collected one RBI. Kenzie Wise also scored a run in the game. Cummins and Wise were both hit by a pitch, and steals by McClain were credited to Hutchinson, Lovett and Wise.
Kyndee Williams pitched five innings with one strikeout and six earned runs. Worthen in two innings had two earned runs.
After the two FAC games, McClain is now 3-7 overall this season.
