Lions upend Ripley for SHAC victory; Lady Lions score 11 goals for win over Lady Blue Jays
The Fairfield Lions boys soccer team earned a big Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday evening with the Lions defeating the Ripley Blue Jays, 2-1 at Fairfield High School.
FHS (1-1, 1-2) had two goals from senior Logan McIntosh to secure the win.
At goal for Fairfield was Zane Matthews with seven saves.
The Fairfield boys team will play again on Thursday, Aug. 22 on the road against the Hillsboro Indians at 7 p.m.
Also on Wednesday, the Fairfield Lady Lions gained a SHAC win by defeating the Ripley Lady Blue Jays by an 11-0 score at FHS.
Fairfield (2-0, 3-0) scored 10 of their own goals, and also RHS had an own goal that went to the Lady Lions for the 11-goal total.
Scoring two goals each were Vivian Henninger, Ava Hooper and Kendal Welling. Having one goal in the win for Fairfield were Miley Brown, Sophie Humphrey, Whitlee Morrow and Emerson Zink.
Assists were credited to Henninger with two and Hooper with two.
Hannah Hamilton and Claire Newkirk each had one save at keeper.
Next for the Lady Lions is a road non-conference game on Thursday, Aug. 22 against the Hillsboro Lady Indians at 5 p.m.
