In a game featuring the two champions of the Southern Hills Athletic Conference, the Fairfield Lady Lions — a SHAC Div. I co-champion — lost to the SHAC Div. II champion, the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, by a 10-1 score.

The win left the Lady Greyhounds undefeated in the SHAC with a 13-0 conference record and 21-1 overall record.

Fairfield’s loss leaves them at 12-10 overall, and they were 9-4 in the SHAC this season. They share their SHAC Div. I title with Eastern; if Lynchburg-Clay wins their last SHAC game Friday, there will be a three-way tie for first place.

In their game against Fairfield, Manchester scored four runs in the first inning and three runs in the second inning on six hits that included three home runs.

Fairfield loaded the bases in the first inning but didn’t push across a run.

FHS scratched across a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, but Manchester prevailed on this day, 10-1.

With the victory, Manchester secures their first undefeated SHAC softball season in school history and their third championship.

Rilee Quickle, Jobey Hattan, Katelyn Chambliss, Carly Sanders and Addison Bales had hits for the Lady Lions.

Chambliss suffered the loss for Fairfield, and Emmi Vance pitched in relief.

Rylie Young picked up her 11th win of the season for Manchester.

The Lady Lions will host a Southeast District Div. III Sectional Final game on Thursday, May 11, as they play the Westfall Lady Mustangs with a 5 p.m. scheduled start.
