Fairfield Lions gain dominant SHAC win over Ripley

Friday night (Dec. 8) was a night full of points and winning for the Fairfield Lions, as they defended Grandle Gymnasium in their Southern Hills Athletic Conference contest with the visiting Ripley Blue Jays.

The Lions dominated the Blue Jays from the second quarter until the end of the game for a convincing 63-27 victory.

FHS led 13-11 after the first frame, and following a 14-6 second quarter going the way of the Lions, it was Fairfield leading 27-17 at halftime.

In the second half, the Lions outscored RHS, 19-7 in the third and 17-3 in the fourth frame to complete the 36-point win.

Fairfield had three players score double figures and a total of six players reach the scoring column.

Gabe Fouch led the Lions with 18 points, and within that scoring the senior made four two-point baskets, two 3-pointers and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Fouch also collected two rebounds and had four steals for a stellar defensive game as well.

Logan McIntosh totaled 12 points for Fairfield with five made baskets and two converted free throws. He also totaled two rebounds and two steals.

Also with 12 points was Trey House, who made six two-point baskets in the win, plus he added six rebounds and one steal.

Larkin Friend finished the game with eight points (one 3-pointer), nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and one block for a solid all-around performance.

Also for the Lions, Cade Miller scored six points off two 3-pointers, plus he added four rebounds to his night.

Brody Smith rounded out the Lions’ scoring with five points, as he made a 3-pointer and a two-point basket. Smith also collected two rebounds and had a block.

The Lions also had Janre Lerio collect a rebound, Dane Hodson force a turnover with a steal and Griffin Friend grab two rebounds.

As a team, the Lions shot 46.2 percent from the field (26.1 percent from beyond the arc) and were 7-of-9 from the free-throw line. FHS also totaled 28 rebounds, four assists, 11 steals and two blocks as a team. Fairfield also committed 11 turnovers.
