Fairfield Lady Lions end season in district quarterfinals

The Fairfield Lady Lions saw their season come to a close on Thursday night, as they fell in the Division VI SE District Quarterfinals against the Dawson-Bryant (Coal Grove) Lady Hornets, 49-36 at DBHS.
The Lady Lions made seven 3-pointers in the game, along with six two-point baskets and they were 3-of-6 from the free-throw line. On the flip side, Dawson Bryant totaled four 3-pointers, but also had 15 two-point baskets, and they went 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.
In the first frame, Fairfield was outscored 12-5, with their five points coming from a 3-pointer by Kassi Miller and a two-point basket by Meri Jackson.
FHS scored nine points in the second with the team having three 3-pointers in the quarter, as Paisley Stahlhut, Rilee Quickle and Miller all hit baskets from beyond the arc. The Lady Hornets scored 14 points in the second for a halftime lead over the Lady Lions at 26-14.
Fairfield won the third quarter at 11-7, where Quickle scored five points (including a 3-pointer), plus they added a 3-pointer by Miller, one free throw made by Vivian Henninger and a two-point basket by Jackson.
The Lady Lions also scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, as Isabelle Hale sank a 3-pointer and Henninger connected with two free throws, while Addison Cannon, McKinley Cox and Jackson each made a two-point basket.
Dawson-Bryant scored 16 points in the fourth quarter.
With the loss, the Lady Lions end their season with a 7-16 overall record, and in Southern Hills Athletic Conference they had a 5-8 mark in the Division II standings.
Seniors for the Lady Lions during the 2024-25 season are Kassi Miller, Kelsey Clark and McKinley Cox.
