Fairfield Lady Lions defeat Ripley

The Fairfield Lady Lions traveled to Aberdeen Tuesday evening to play the Ripley Lady Blue Jays in a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game where FHS won by a 9-5 score.

FHS (9-5, 6-2 SHAC) built an early 5-1 lead and added three more runs in the top of the fifth inning for an 8-1 lead. 

Ripley (5-12, 1-8 SHAC) rallied to score two runs in the sixth inning and seventh inning, but Fairfield prevailed, 9-5.

Emmi Vance and Carly Sanders led a 10-hit attack for the Lady Lions offense with three hits each, as Rilee Quickle picked up her third win of the season.

The Lady Lions scored four runs in the top of the first inning on an RBI fielder’s choice by Faith Miller, a double by Vance and a triple by Katelyn Chambliss.

Fairfield added a run in the top of the third inning on a triple by Vance, but Ripley scored a run in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 5-1.

The Lady Lions expanded their lead to 8-1 with three more runs in the top of the fifth inning. Jobey Hattan was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Sydney Sanders followed with a double, Miller reached on an infield error, Vance singled, Chambliss reached on a fielders’ choice and Carly Sanders singled.

Ripley rallied to score two runs in the top of the sixth inning and two more runs in the seventh.

Leading hitters for the Fairfield Lady Lions: Rilee Quickle (1-for-4, walk), Jobey Hattan (0-for-2, 2 HBP, 1 run), Sydney Sanders (2-for-3, double, walk, 2 runs, 1 RBI), Faith Miller (0-for-2, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Emmi Vance (3-for-4, double, triple, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Katelyn Chambliss (1-for-2, triple, 1 RBI) and Carly Sanders (3-for-4, 1 run).

Rilee Quickle (3-1) was the winning pitcher for Fairfield. Quickle pitched seven innings, allowing 14 hits, five earned runs, no walks and five strikeouts.
