Social Civics Club holds March meeting

Mary Ann Larkin opened her home to members of the New Petersburg Social Civics Club for their March meeting. President Debbie Robinson opened the meeting and welcomed those present.
Secretary Wanda Green had roll call, with members answering by naming a sign of spring. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Treasurer Vickie Duff gave the treasurer's report. A donation was given to the Highland County Society for Children and Adults Telethon. The February donation was to the Heart Fund. Cards were signed for Peggy Hamilton, Bea Mustard, and Jane Moore.
Due to the fact that the February meeting was cancelled because of snow, Mary Ann Larkin took cards and candy to the rest home for Valentine's Day. Verla Hodson and Patty Detty donated money for candy for the rest home for Easter.
Glenna Ross had the program. She gave everyone a box of Jiffy cornbread mix and told a very interesting story about the origin of the product. She closed her program with a poem by Helen Steiner Rice.
Malinda Wells was the winner of the contest presented by Margaret Crabtree. The birthday raffles were won by Wanda Greene and Debbie Robinson. Members receiving secret sister gifts were Margaret Crabtree, Patty Detty, Janet Lawwell, Cora Hamilton, Peggy Hamilton, Debbie Robinson, Wanda Greene, and Phyllis Miller. The hostess gift was won by Wanda Greene.
Delicious refreshments were served at tables decorated with the St. Patrick's Day theme. Members enjoying the refreshments were Patty Detty, Margaret Crabtree, Glenna Ross, Janet Campbell, Vickie Duff, Wanda Greene, Verla Hodson, Debbie Robinson, Anna Lou Lucas, Phyllis Miller, and hostess Mary Ann Larkin. Guests were Maddie Ross and Malinda Wells.
The next meeting will be a Talent Auction at the Rainsboro United Methodist Church with Janet Lawwell serving as hostess.
