Seniors invited to participate in virtual 'Stepping On' workshop for falls prevention

Individuals age 65 and over are invited to attend a unique seven-week workshop that targets seniors at risk of a fall or those who have suffered from a fall and live independently.  

“Stepping On” is a free program through the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) that helps participants improve overall health and well-being, exercise the whole body, and gain a new sense of independence.

“Stepping On” involves a series of strength and balance exercises to focus on fall risk and prevention.  Through this evidence-based class, the AAA7 helps individuals age 65 and over improve movement, balance, strength and flexibility; reduce falls; and increase socialization and sustainability.  

Upcoming classes will be held virtually starting May 5th and will be held on Tuesdays through June 16th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Those participating should attend all classes. If interested, do not hesitate to grab a spot! Register by April 28th to guarantee a spot in this workshop.

Your local Area Agency on Aging District 7, Inc. provides services on a non-discriminatory basis in ten counties in Southern Ohio including Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.  These services are available to help older adults and those with disabilities live safely and independently in their residence of choice through services paid for by Medicare, Medicaid, other federal and state resources, as well as private pay.  The AAA7’s Resource Center is also available to anyone in the community looking for information or assistance with long-term care options.  Available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, the Resource Center is a valuable contact for learning more about options and what programs and services are available for assistance.
