Revolutionary War Soldiers Series: Remembering Beverly Milner

Revolutionary War veteran Beverly Milner was born March 1756 in Danville, Virginia and died Jan. 11, 1843 in Highland County, Ohio. He is buried in the Fairfield Quaker Cemetery, Leesburg.
Beverly Milner, soldier of the Revolution, was a native of Halifax County, Virginia. He married Anne Hendricks in the 1780s, and they moved to a location on the Clinch River in Kentucky.
Several of the Milner children were already grown when the family moved to Ohio in 1807. Their first cabin home was on Hayes Survey No. 2,318, on the banks of Hardin’s Creek. Children of the early family were rocked in a bark cradle, thought to have been the first one used in Fairfield Township. Many prominent families in southern Ohio are related to the Milners, either by birth or by marriage.
Beverly and Anne Hendricks Milner were the parents of the following children: Dudley, Moses, Beverly Jr., Amos, Joseph, John, Oliver, Luke, Ruth , and Sarah (Anderson) Milner. 1-Moses Milner 1786-Jan. 16, 1864, married Sallie Slaughter, who was born in 1787, and survived until she was nearly ninety-eight years old. Their children were John 1816-1903 (his first wife, born in 1817, died in 1863).
The second wife of John Milner was Michal, daughter of Jesse Johnson. Eli, eldest son of John Milner, was born in 1813 and died in 1887. A younger son Moses, born in 1827, survived until 1927, Mahala and Emily Milner.
2-Ruth, eldest daughter of Beverly Milner, was born Feb. 25, 1783, and died March 15, 1858. She married Daniel Burgess, a native of Bucks Co, Pa. where he was born Oct. 2, 1771. Their children were Anna, John, Sarah (Ferguson), Oliver, Joseph 1814-1900 (he married Phebe Ballard 1817-1907; Deborah, Tracy, Jeanette (Cowman), Mahalia, and Beverly Burgess. His wife was Malinda, daughter of John Leonard.
Daniel Burgess survived until June 20, 1872, when he was 101 years, 3 months and 12 days old. He and his wife were laid to rest in the Fairfield Cemetery, south of Leesburg.
3-Sarah, daughter of Beverly Milner, born in 1790, succumbed in 1824. She was the first wife of William P. Anderson.
4-John, son of Beverly Milner, born in 1800, survived until 1898. He married Susan Kinzer, who was born in 1808 and died in 1888.
