Premier Showmen 4-H members attend Goat Clinic

Members of the Premier Showmen 4-H Club took part in a hands-on goat clinic hosted by the Highland County Goat Association at the Highland County Fairgrounds on May 14. The clinic offered educational opportunities focused on grooming, feeding, and proper showmanship techniques.

Throughout the event, 4-H members gained valuable insight into what it takes to raise and show goats successfully. Attendees learned about the characteristics of effective grooming, feeding strategies to promote muscle growth, and tips for confidently handling goats in the show arena.

Participants were also given the opportunity to earn a credit toward their annual Quality Assurance requirement, an important part of preparing youth for ethical and responsible animal care.

Bricen Stevens, a member of Premier Showmen, shared, "I learned more about how to feed my goat efficiently to gain the muscle mass needed." Fellow member Gracie Whaley added, "I learned more about how to handle my goats while in the show arena."  

The clinic not only strengthened members’ technical skills but also encouraged confidence and responsibility.
