New Petersburg Social Civic Club discuss American flag at July meeting

Phyllis Miller was hostess of the July meeting of the New Petersburg Social Civic Club at the Rainsboro Methodist Church. Sixteen members answered roll call by using the first letter of their name and giving the name of a first lady with the same first letter.
Secretary Cora Hamilton read the minutes of the last meeting. Treasurer Vicki Duff gave the treasurer's report.
Debbie Robinson and Glenna Ross had the program. Guest speaker Pastor Scott Latimer gave the program on the flag: the meaning of a flag-draped coffin; a demonstration of the folding of the flag, explaining the 13 folds and the meaning of each fold; what the colors of the flag mean; when to display the flag; and other flag facts.
The contest by Janet Campbell was won by Hamilton.
Birthday raffles brought by Miller and Mary Ann Larkin were won by Larkin and Bea Mustard. Secret Sister gifts were received by Mustard, Verla Hodson, Chris Tolbert, Wanda Green and Debbie Ellison. The hostess gift was won by Patty Detty.
Those in attendance not mentioned above were Ruth Ann Watts, Anna Lou Lucas, Marion Dodds and Malinda Wells.
