National Cancer Survivors Day to be celebrated June 19 in Chillicothe

By
-

Adena Health System is celebrating National Cancer Survivors Day beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday with a free all-you-care-to-eat picnic for cancer survivors and guests at the VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.

At 7:05 p.m., survivors and guests are invited to watch the Paints take on the Lorain County Ironmen in the stadium -- one guest per survivor, please.
Additionally, Paints’ players will wear purple jerseys, which will be auctioned during the game. Proceeds from the silent auction will go to the Adena Health
Foundation and its Adena Cancer Fund.

Elsewhere in the nation, hundreds of communities will host National Cancer Survivors Day events of their own to celebrate life and demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be enjoyable and fruitful.

The special day was founded in the U.S. and now is observed in countries as far away as Australia, Italy and Malaysia, according to organizers.

For more information about the local celebration, please call 740-779-7589.
