Lynchburg celebrates Arbor Day

On May 8 the Village of Lynchburg celebrated Arbor Day, after the village's initial celebration was rained out May 1.
The parade traveled through town, showcasing many of the best race cars, emergency vehicles, the VFW, local businesses, four-wheelers, and the King and Queen from the Commons. Children were very excited with the special appearance of SpongeBob Squarepants in the parade.
The parade finished at the Old School Park where nearly 200 Norway Spruce trees were given to residents.  The commemorative Arbor Day tree was a red maple (acer rubrum) which was planted by Wright Nursery in Lynchburg.
A grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony for the fabulous new playground at the Old School Park was also held.  Marvin and Connie Resibois and the Lynchburg Recreation committee worked on fundraising so the playground could became a reality with the help of a Nature Works grant. The playground has been bustling with families and children since it opened.
