Hillsboro Peace Lutheran Church gives to Altrusa

Hillsboro Peace Lutheran Church recently gave a donation of $150 to Altrusa of Highland County to help support the literacy projects in the club. 

Church members donate to a non-profit organization each quarter of the year. They appreciate the club’s efforts to improve literacy in our community with the 11 Little Free Libraries in the county and how the club purchases a new book for every student in Highland County schools’ grades preschool through grade 5. 

The Little Free Libraries are located in Hillsboro (center of town, YMCA and HCCAO), Greenfield (center of town and HCCAO), Mowrystown, Leesburg, Sinking Spring, North Shore Drive, Rocky Fork Campground and Paint Creek Campground. Little Free Library boxes are filled with reading materials for all ages and interests. 

Throughout the year, Highland County Altrusa members place approximately 3,000 books in the boxes. Donations of funds and books provide the support needed to keep this literacy project going.
