Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA Chapter excels at Ohio State Fair

From July 22 to Aug. 3, the Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA Chapter had eight members compete at the Ohio State Fair. 

These members included Brianna Foxx, Brayden Cummings, Emma Yochum, Blake Herdman, Cameron Burkard and Braydon Burkard, who exhibited their beef projects, and Claire and Corbin Winkle, who exhibited their swine projects. 

Throughout the fair, these members participated in a variety of contests including showmanship, skillathon, livestock judging, as well as the junior and open shows. These members spent countless hours working with their projects over the summer.  

Highlighted winners include:

Braydon Burkard: First Place AOB Heifer-Junior and Open Shows; 4th Beef Skillathon Age Group.

Cameron Burkard: First Place Shorthorn Yearling heifer; 8th in showmanship; 4th Beef Skillathon Age group.

Brayden Cummings: Champion Bred and Owned Chianina Heifer.

Brianna Foxx: First Place Crossbred Heifer Session 2; First Place Prospect Show, 3rd session.

Blake Herdman: Reserve Champion High Maine Heifer Junior and Open Shows.

Claire Winkle: 5th Overall Light Weight Market Gilt; 4th Overall Hampshire Gilt; 1st Swine Breeding Skillathon and 3rd Swine Market Skillathon Age 15; First Place Market Barrow.

Corbin Winkle: 9th Overall Market Barrow; Reserve Overall Chester Barrow; Reserve Overall Landrace Barrow; 4th Overall Duroc Barrow; 2nd Breeding and Market Swine Skillathon Age 18.

Emma Yochum: Grand Champion ChiAngus Junior and Open Show; Grand Champion Bred & Owned; Premier Exhibitor and Premier Breeder.

Congratulations to the Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA Members for their outstanding achievements.
