-

On May 22, the Hillsboro Garden Club held its monthly meeting at the Floral Hall.

President Larry Moore called the meeting to order. The pledge was recited and the group sang a patriotic song to start off the evening.

Roll call was taken by Jackie Cowdrey and answered by members telling if they attended the regional meeting.

Minutes were not read, but recorded in the secretaries book for further reference.

In the absence of Ruth Anna Duff, the treasurer; Nancy Baldwin gave the group the treasurer’s report.

Rose Marie Cowdrey brought a lovely arrangement consisting of wheat, lilies, philodendron leaves all displayed in California crystal in a clear container.

Sharon Mills also shared with the group a lovely arrangement of “black” petunias.

Carol Gorby informed the group about her adventure at the exhibitor's and judge's school. She learned more information on period (traditional) designs and oriental designs.

The group was reminded that the convention will be held June 25-27 at Deer Creek State Lodge.

Rose Marie Cowdrey and Beryl Gruelle will be entering arrangements. We wish them both luck!

The Flower Show Committee will be conducting a flower arranging class in June for interested members. Naomi Ormes will be conducting the class.

A mini-auction was held with various items up for bid. The group had a great time bidding on the beautiful containers and various other items.

The program for the evening saw the members getting down and dirty, creating various shaped flower pots that they could take home and further enjoy. Dianne Baker was in charge of this program.

The next meeting will be June 19 at 7 p.m. at the Floral Hall.

Junior Monica Cowdrey will be presenting the program. New members are always welcome!
