Summer at Hillsboro First United Methodist Church is going to be different than any other summer in the past. Vacation Bible School as you know it is taking a new shape this summer and the entire family – kids, youth and adults – are invited to “Learn to Live Like Jesus.”

This summer instead of the traditional, weeklong, kids-only VBS, Hillsboro First UMC is expanding ministry opportunities to one night a week throughout the summer and is inviting the whole family (and community) to “Wednesday Family Faith ‘n Fun Night.”

Each Wednesday will start with a dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by children’s learning activities similar to what kids are used to doing at VBS, our youth gathering (grades 6-12), and an adult Bible study entitled “Faith Lessons” led by Pastor Derek Russell. Wednesday night at Hillsboro First is ministry for the entire family and community.

Ministry is truly a family affair and we want to help the entire family – kids, youth and adults – to "Learn to Live Like Jesus." Research and experience shows that children and parents who worship and learn together are stronger in their faith and we want to give everyone an opportunity to "Learn to Live Like Jesus."

Wednesday Family Faith ‘n Fun Night will be held every Wednesday from May 30 to August 8, with the exception of July 4, at Hillsboro First UMC. On May 30, the summer kicks off with the “Hillsboro First Hoedown” Square Dance. Join us for dinner and a live band as we learn to square dance – no classes this night, just square dancing fun. Even if you aren’t a square dancer watching others try will be just as much fun.

We want to invite the entire Hillsboro community to our Wednesday night activities. This is not just for the members of our church, this is for everyone. If your kids have come to VBS in the past this is a place for them this summer. And parents, we want you to come as well. We have ministry opportunities for the entire family and all of Hillsboro.
