Hillsboro FFA goat exhibitors at the Highland County Fair

Our goat exhibitor members had a great year last week at the 2025 Highland County Fair. It was surely a summer full of hard work for six of our members. Cleaning pens, training routines, and feeding schedules are some of the easier tasks that come with raising a goat for the fair. 

Kyle Thoroman exhibited both a dairy and a boer market goat. He placed third overall market and third overall in the dairy market goat show. 

Jayah Chaney got first in class with her boer goats. 

Jayden Rudy placed third and fifth in the goat show with his dairy market goats. 

Delaina Southworth showed her boer doe in showmanship and the main show. In showmanship, she placed third in the 17 year old class. During the breeding show on Wednesday, she placed sixth in class. 

Rylea Scarberry also showed in showmanship and in the main show. In showmanship, she placed second in the 17 year old class, she went on to place second in the senior division, and placed sixth overall breeding showman. During the Wednesday show, she placed first in class, won Grand Senior Commercial Doe, and in the Utility Doe Final Drive, she placed third overall. 

Layna Apgar exhibited two market dairy goats and one dairy breeding doe. She got Reserve Champion and also placed 4th overall. Layna also had the honor of being the 2025 Goat Ambassador for the goat barn. Congratulations Layna.

The Hillsboro Great Oaks FFA is so proud of all our members who successfully exhibited goats at the 2025 Highland County Fair. Congratulations to all of you and good luck in your showing endeavors for the coming years.
