Highland SWCD Conservation Poster contest winners announced

Students from Highland County Middle Schools were given an opportunity to design a poster with the theme "Dig It: The Secrets of Soil". The posters were on paper grocery bags donated by Kroger of Hillsboro.  The top three poster winners from each school received a T-shirt donated by the Highland Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD).  The top four county poster winners will receive cash awards during the  Highland SWCD's Annual Banquet on October 15th located at the Senior Citizens Center. The posters cash awards are sponsored by the Highland County Farm Bureau.  The 2009 Conservation Poster contest winners are: first place, Jake Shrader from Lynchburg, second place, Camille Burges from Fairfield; third place, Rocky Smith from Bright Local and fourth place, Emma Wardlow from Bright Local.
