Spring is here, and we are enjoying National Library Week. Next week will be an exciting week as well, with our annual book sale beginning. And then Summer Reading will begin on May 19. For our kick-off, John Louis will present a really fun program at 1 p.m. Everyone is invited. More information is below.
Check out these upcoming events:
· April 18 – 5 p.m. - Our adult book discussion group meets monthly on the third Wednesday. The book chosen for this month is “Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet” by Jamie Ford. Everyone welcome.
· April 30 – 6:30 p.m. – Our Genealogy Club meets on the last Monday of the month to learn more about genealogy research. The program this month will be presented by Bruce Lieurance from the Turner Funeral Homes. He will share about funeral home records, customs, laws governing funerals and listings of old Highland County Cemeteries. It will be very interesting, and everyone is invited.
· May 1 & June 5, 10 and 11 – Jim Milliken, liaison to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, will be here to hold open office hours to give local citizens the opportunity to be more informed and to ask questions.
· May 3 – A stroke support group meets at the library the first Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. This is presented by the Greenfield Area Medical Center.
· May 7, 1-3 p.m. – Beginners Quilting Group. This group is led by
Anna Tompkins. They are having a great time. Everyone welcome to join us.
· May 7, 6-8 p.m. – CET will have their final workshop for early childhood caregivers. If you are interested, give us a call.
· May 14-15 - Perennial Exchange – Our annual plant exchange will be held from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on these days. Bring a perennial that you have many of and exchange for one that you don’t have. It’s always an exciting time for gardeners and those who love flowers.
· May 19, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. – Summer Reading Kickoff - Sign up on that day and you will get a bookbag, bookmark, tattoo and a magnetic frame. We will also be having a special program by John Louis at 1 p.m. on this day. He is an illusionist, comic, juggler and will do a great program. Everyone is invited to share in the fun.
· Storytime – Tuesdays - 11 a.m. - for ages 2-4. Stories, crafts, music, just lots of fun. Plan to join us.
· Drop-in crafts for kids – Check out the monthly crafts that kids can do when they visit the library.
There’s a great display at the library this month. Mary Mick has a spring collection of sheep of various forms and textures, none that need fed. Stop in and check it out.
