Greenfield Area Ministerial Association announces National Day of Prayer observance May 7

The Greenfield Area Ministerial Association is pleased to announce the 75th annual National Day of Prayer observance on May 7, starting at noon at the Greenfield City Building plaza, located on the corner of Jefferson and Washington Streets.  

This year’s theme is “Glorify God among the nations – seeking him in all generations” and is based on I Chronicles 16:24 “Tell of His Glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.”

We are inviting the community to pray for the military, families, government, churches, education, media and businesses of Greenfield and our nation.   

The first National Day of Prayer was established by the Continental Congress in 1775, and while U.S. presidents followed that initial National Day of Prayer by issuing a proclamation for an annual “Day Of Prayer,” it wasn’t until 1988 that Congress officially established the National Day of Prayer as occurring on the first Thursday in May.
