Greenfield Area Christian Center announces April 24 groundbreaking

The Greenfield Area Christian Center Board of Directors has announced that the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Greenfield Area Christian Center will take place Tuesday, April 24 at 4 p.m. at the construction site, 912 N. 5th Street, Greenfield.

Recently, the Greenfield Area Christian Center received a bequest from George Waddell in the amount of $250,000, a donation of land from the Nelson and Isabel Black Estate, a gift of $20,000 from the Moon Family, a gift of $37,598 from Robert and Eleanor Adams and an additional $20,000 from the Waddell Estate.

The Greenfield Area Christian Center Board of Directors collectively decided the best way to honor these generous gifts would be to build a new Center to better serve the community and fulfill the ministries.

The new building will be located on the land adjacent to the existing Center and will include the food ministry, New Directions, and the relocated Borreson Chapel.

As part of the project, the existing Center will be refurbished to house the clothing ministry. Given the ample space of the new Center, the opportunity will exist for other organizations within the community to use the Center for programs and services.

After reviewing several construction bids, the project was awarded to Mike Cullom & Sons Construction. The Greenfield Area Christian Center has launched a capital campaign within the community to secure pledges and donations from churches, businesses, organizations and individuals to raise the $114,000 in construction costs which remain after using the aforementioned bequests.

“We feel so blessed by the generous gifts we have received from those who cared so deeply about our community and the missions of the Greenfield Area Christian Center,” said Lanny Bryant, president of the Greenfield Area Christian Center Board of Directors.

“Over the years there has been an increasing demand for our services, and the new Center will allow us to provide help and touch the lives of many more people within the community."

The Greenfield Area Christian Center was founded in 1985 and is a non profit organization 501-c3. Ministries of the Greenfield Area Christian center include Clothing, Food, Tragic and Transient, Education and New Directions.

These ministries would not be possible without volunteer support and the large donations from local churches, individuals, businesses and community organizations.

For those interested in making a donation or pledge, please contact Lanny Bryant at (937) 981-4752.
