The Highland County Dog Pound has the following dogs available for adoption or rescue pulls as of June 17, listed courtesy of the Friends of the Highland County Dog Pound.

Pull transport date is June 20.

(1) Rocky: Rocky is a mixed breed, possibly heeler mix, who is around a year old and weighs 48 lbs. Rocky seems to pay no attention to other dogs. He is still young and would be great for an active family.

(2) Jasmine: Jasmine is a boxer mix who is around 4 years old and weighs 41 lbs. Jasmine seems to be fine with other dogs here at the pound. She seems like she just would love to play. Jasmine gets very excited to see people when they walk past her kennel. She may look scary, but she is an absolute doll baby.

(3) Jimmy: Jimmy is a handsome boy that weighs around 60 lbs. Jimmy LOVES attention, and he will keep bugging you until you give it to him. He would do best in a home without other dogs.

(4) Zeppelin: Zeppelin is estimated to be 1-2 years old. He weighs 58 lbs. He loves to play with other dogs and has a ton of energy.

(5) Flopsy: Flopsy is a beautiful pit bull who is 2-3 years old and weighs 55 lbs. Flopsy got her name because when you go to pet her, she flops on the ground wanting all the belly rubs you will give her. She loves people and has a very loving personality. This sweet girl has never shown any type of aggression, and she seems to be OK with other dogs with a slow introduction.

(6) Panther: Panther is a 52 lb. male pit bull around the age of 3. He is not good with other dogs, but he has a great personality.

(7) Gabby: She so deserves a chance, she is too nice to have been here for so long. Gabby is a mixed breed sweetheart who weighs 60 lbs. and would be best in an only-dog home. She is very loving and gets so excited to see you she wants to give you kisses. A donor wishes to help with the cost of her spaying at your veterinary clinic.

Top row, l-r: Milo, Champ, Hank; center, l-r: Oatis and Jade; (bottom, l-r) Freddy, Lewis and Winston #2.

(8) Milo: Milo is a husky that is estimated to be around 3-4 years old. He weighs 44 lbs. He does great with other dogs. He is a very sweet boy and seems to learn very quickly as long as he gets attention when he does something good.

(9) Champ: Champ is a pit mix who is 2-3 years old and weighs 48 lbs.  He is a very pretty tan color with white on his chest. We don’t know what Champ had to go through before he came to the shelter, but we do know that he is not OK with any dogs and would be good for a home where he was the only dog.

(10) Hank: Hank was owner surrendered and we think he is a boxer mix and he weighs 78 lbs., and he is 8-9 years old. He is very loving to people, but he is not good with small dogs. With larger dogs, he would be fine.

(11) Oatis: Oatis is a sweet pit mix who is approximately 2-3 years old and he weighs 42 pounds. He seems to do fine with other dogs as he does not really pay attention to them.

(12) Jade: Jade is one of a kind with her beautiful one brown and one bright blue eye. She is a German Shepherd/husky mix who is estimated at 1-2 years old and weighs 53 lbs. From what we can tell, Jade does not like other dogs.

(13) Freddy: Freddy is an estimated 2-year-old lab mix that came to us as a stray. Freddy weighs 55 pounds. He seems to be fine with other dogs. He would benefit from spending some time walking on a leash. He loves the attention.

(14) Lewis: Lewis is a chihuahua/Jack Russell mix who is about 5-6 years old. Lewis weighs 17 lbs. and is a very sweet boy. He loves to try and give kisses. Lewis can be rather aggressive toward other dogs, but he has lived with a bigger dog.

(15) Winston #2:  Winston is approximately 4 years old and he weighs 48 lbs. He is a pit bull. He does great with other dogs and has a ton of energy.

Top, l-r: Winston #1, Sadie, Scooby; center, l-r: Storm, Hopper; bottom, l-r: Daisey and Diesel.

(16) Winston #1: We think Winston might be a Lab mix. He is about 1-2 years old and weighs 46 lbs. He definitely has a lot of energy but is a sweet boy who loves people. He appears to be fine with other dogs.

(17) Sadie: Sadie is a mixed breed who is very loving. She needs time to warm up to you, but once she does she will be your best friend. She has been good with other dogs here at the pound. Sadie is 4 years old, and she weighs 43 pounds.

(18) Scooby: Scooby is a mixed breed boy who weighs 68 lbs. Scooby is an owner surrender who is 3 years old and he is neutered. His previous owner says he has never been around cats. He has been around kids and would prefer older children. He has also been around dogs and would prefer medium-large dogs.

(19) Storm: Storm is a male Bluetick Coonhound who is around 3 years old and weighs 46 lbs. This beautiful boy loves to run and play. He seems to be fine with other dogs.

(20) Hopper: Hopper lives up to her name, as she loves to hop around outside and play. She is a very sweet girl with a lot of energy. She is likely around 1-2 years old and weighs 44 lbs.

(21) Daisey: We think Daisey may be an English Coonhound Mix. She is around 5-7 years old. Daisey is such a sweet girl who craves love and affection. We think Daisey would be OK with other dogs who are calm and wouldn't pay much attention to her. She would need time to warm up to them. Daisey weighs around 40 lbs.

(22) Diesel: Diesel is a pit mix who came to us as a stray. He is very friendly and loves to play and get loved on. He has done well with other dogs that we have had him around here at the pound, and he came in with a female. He is short and stocky, weighing around 45 lbs.

Top row, l-r: Waylon and Natalie; center, l-r: Emily, Clifford and Lucky; bottom, l-r: Abby and Turner.

(23) Waylon: Waylon came in with 2 other pups and possibly a dad. He is approximately 7-8 months old and weighs 28-32 Ibs. He is friendly but shy and you have to just pet him and he will start loving you. He hasn't had much close people interactions but the more he gets the more he realizes we're not all bad humans.

(24) Natalie & Emily: Natalie and Emily came in with two other pups and possibly a dad. They are approximately 7-8 months old and weigh 23 and 28 lbs. They are friendly but are very shy and you have to just pet them and they will start loving on you. They haven't had much close people interactions, but the more they get, the more they realize we're not all bad humans. Please consider adding one to your family. THEY DO NOT HAVE TO GO TO THE SAME HOME.

(25) Clifford: Clifford, as in the big red dog, because that's exactly him. This big guy is possibly around 4 years old and weighs 75 lbs. Clifford is so friendly and loving. Not sure on the breed but possibly lab mix. All the black pups you will see also were brought in with him. This big guy seemed to do just fine when around another dog.

(26) Lucky: Lucky is a pretty old dude who is around 12-13 years old. He came to us due to his owner passing away. He was an outside dog, and he still would rather be on the outside of his kennel than on the inside. He won't come in and eat until he knows you're gone and not going to lock him inside. He is very friendly. Due to him being so old, it has caused hip problems. Lucky has had to have steroid shots to help. Please consider helping Lucky! We don't want to see him pass away in the shelter.

(27) Abby: Abby is a Pit Mix who is around 3-4 years old and weighs 50 lbs. Abby is very lovable and would be fine with getting pets all the time. She likes to give hugs. Abby seems to be fine with other dogs. She seems like she wants to play. She is a sweetie.

(28) Turner: Turner is a pit bull who is 1-2 years old and weighs 63 lbs. This guy is so friendly and greets everyone with tail wags. All Turner wants to do is be loved, and that's hard due to his breed. Turner seems to do fine with other dogs here at the pound.

Top row, l-r: Happy Feet, Brier and Momma Dog; center, l-r: Zoe, Dixie, Dill; bottom row, l-r: Pickle and Russ.

(29) Happy Feet: If you ever wanted to pull a pit bull, he is the one! Happy Feet got his name because when you go to his kennel door, he's so happy to see you and his front feet dance. He is around 2-3 years old and weighs a whopping 70 lbs. Happy Feet has been around other dogs here at the pound and seems to be fine with them. He doesn't really pay any attention to them.

(30) Brier: Brier is a 1-2 year old Shepherd mix who weighs 61 lbs. He is very friendly. After his stray hold, we thought he had a home to go to but failed which was no fault of his own, it was that just one person in the family didn't want another dog. Brier showed up at an Amish house but also visited the neighbor often. She adored him and said he did great with the other dogs and kids there.

(31) Momma Dog: She is around 4-5 years old and weighs 29 lbs. Momma Dog has a very long story. She was first dumped off and tied to someone's fence. A neighbor decided to keep her and was not very responsible. She got pregnant and became very protective over her pups. Her owner at the time weaned her pups off at 4-5 weeks old, and another county humane society took them but wouldn't take Momma Dog as she was too protective over them. Her owner then decided to tie her to a Dumpster and leave her. Had the trash guys not seen and untied her, she wouldn't be here today. She is doing much better and is looking for her perfect home. All she wants is love!

(32) Zoe: Zoe is around 4-5 months weighing around 20lbs. This sweet girl is very lovable and wants to be on your lap all the time. She is very energetic and loves to give all the kisses you would ever want. We think she may be crate trained. We are working on other potty training. Zoe also knows "sit" and we're working on "down" due to loving to jump. This girl has no problem clearing a desk or even jumping to your height. A fenced-in yard (if in town) will be required for her, although when walking off leash here at the pound she has not strayed too far away from us and when you call she will come.

(33) Dixie: Dixie is a hound mix who is around 3-4 years old and weighs 35lbs. Dixie came to us as a stray. When arriving her neck was very raw and had a big cut in it like she had been caught in a fence. Her neck is healing nicely, and we are currently working on getting her to gain more weight. Dixie is such a sweetheart, and it seems that she would make a perfect companion for anyone. Out in the yard, she seems to want to stay close to you and seems to do OK on a leash. Dixie also seems to be fine around other dogs.

(34) Dill and Pickle: These two are the perfect two to have. Dill is a mixed breed weighing 57lbs at 1-2 years old. Pickle is a terrier mix weighing 26lbs at around 6 months old. Dill and Pickle were found as strays. We would like to see them stay together as they are very bonded, but we would be willing to separate although that would be a last resort. These two sleep together, eat together, play together. Please, if you're considering one, please consider the other.

(35) Russ: Russ came to us as a stray that OSP picked up. He had a fencing collar on, but no owners ever came forward. Russ is an adult mixed breed weighing 55 lbs. He is very calm and seems to do fine with other dogs.
