Freestore Foodbank delivers to Fairfield Township residents

The Leesburg Order of the Eastern Star No. 57 and the Masonic Lodge No. 78 combined efforts on Feb. 4 to bring the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank to the Fairfield Township area.
The refrigerated Foodbank truck, carrying approximately 5,000 pounds of food, arrived in Leesburg at 10 a.m. at the Leesburg Fire Station, and very soon many volunteers arranged an assortment of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and canned goods on tables inside the station.
Under the direction of Rahsheedah Brown, public relations specialist for the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank, and with the help of two drivers, the food distribution began.
Approximately 160 people and 89 households received food.
Leftover items were taken to the village food pantry for distribution to Fairfield Township residents in need.
“It was a most rewarding day for everyone and we thank the Leesburg/Fairfield Fire Department for the use of their facilities,” said Shirley Dunseith, secretary of the Leesburg Order of the Eastern Star No. 57.
