Historical Society
• On April 21 at 7:30 p.m., the Highland County Historical Society will
hold their monthly Heritage Music Series concert and social hour. Call for

• On May 4, the Highland County Historical Society will host a Member
Appreciation Potluck at the Highland House museum, starting at 6 p.m.

Recovery program
meets on Tuesdays
The Celebrate Victory Recovery Program meets every Tuesday night at 7
p.m. at ReaLife Church, located at 230 West South Street, Hillsboro.

Alzheimer’s Support
Group meetings
The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati will sponsor a
Highland County Alzheimer’s/Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group on the
third Monday of each month from 5-6:30 p.m. at Highland District Hospital.

Colony Theater shows
The April show at the Colony Theater Christian series will be Jericho 7.

Eagles host Thursday bingo
The Hillsboro Eagles host bingo on Thursday nights. Doors open at 5:30
p.m., and games start at 7 p.m.

AA meetings in Rainsboro
The Rocky Fork Lake/Rainsboro area has a new meeting of AA at Rainsboro
United Methodist Church, Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. In addition, there will
be Al-Anon support meetings Saturdays at the church.

House of Prayer
board meetings
The Highland County House of Prayer, Inc. will hold monthly board
meetings on the last Wednesday of each month. The meetings will take place
at the home of Marvin and Becky Gotherman, 100 West Union Pike, Hillsboro at

Flea markets at
Sardinia Veterans Park
A monthly flea market will be held at the Sardinia Veterans Park on the
first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., beginning May 5 through
Sept. 1. Food will be served at these events. Anyone with crafts or other
items to sell is welcome. There will not be a set rental fee; it will be by
donation only. All donations will be used to upgrade and maintain the
Veterans Park. Anyone interested in a space or information can call (937)

Meet the candidate
reception for Brenda Losey
There will be a meet the candidate reception for Brenda Losey who is
running for Highland County commissioner on Wednesday, April 25 from 5-8
p.m. at the Yellow Rose Bed and Breakfast, 305 S. Washington St. in
Greenfield. Everyone is invited.

New Directions’ rummage sale
New Directions’ rummage sale will be April 19-21 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at
the New Directions Youth Center, 251 Jefferson St., Greenfield.

LCHS grand march April 21
Lynchburg-Clay High School’s prom grand march will begin at 6 p.m. on
April 21. This will include the crowning of the prom king and queen and
prince and princess.

Sidewalk Prophets and
Josh Wilson perform April 20
Nationally acclaimed contemporary Christian artists Sidewalk Prophets
and Josh Wilson will be performing at the Southern State Community College
Patriot Center on SSCC’s central campus, Friday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available through Hillsboro Christian Academy and may be ordered

bleacher seats.

Deadline approaches for
quilt and craft applications
The 2012 Chatfield College Quilt and Craft Show will be held from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at the St. Martin campus in St. Martin.
The quilt exhibit will include traditional quilts of any theme as well
as contemporary pieces. The show will also feature a quilt contest of
seasonal-themed quilts. Applications are available now to exhibit quilts,
demonstrate or sell crafts and to enter the quilt contest.

CAMP signups open
for 57th annual session
Young people grades 6 through June 2012 grads may now register for the
award-winning motivational camp, C.A.M.P., which will happen Aug. 5-11 at
the Resident Camp at Tar Hollow State Park. All-inclusive cost for C.A.M.P.

UCANspay/neuter program
UCAN Highland County Transport’s low-cost spay/neuter program will hold
drop-offs and pick-ups for pets on the fourth Wednesday and Thursday of the
month at Peace Lutheran Church, 231 Harry Sauner Road.
Pets are to be dropped off at the church between 7-7:15 a.m. on
Wednesdays and may be picked up between 11:30 a.m. - noon Thursdays. All
pets must be in pet carriers.
Forms for the UCAN program may be picked up at any Highland County

The Highland County Republican Central Committee will meet the fourth
Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Highland County Administration

Engineer’s Office
summer hours
The following are the 2012 summer hours for the Highland County
Engineer’s Office and County Highway Department. Effective through Oct. 4,
2012, the Highland County Engineer’s Office and County Highway Department
will be working four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30
p.m. After-hour emergencies will continue to be handled by calling the
Highland County Sheriff at 393-1421.

Greenfield Emmaus
gathering April 23
The Greenfield Emmaus Community will be having a gathering at 7 p.m.
Monday, April 23 at New Directions, 251 Jefferson St., Greenfield. Everyone
is welcome.

Open Door free meal
The Open Door free meal will be held at the Greenfield Methodist Church
on Saturday, April 28. Serving will be from 4-5:30 p.m. The menu will be
baked ham, hash brown potato casserole, green beans, and fruit salad.

Aglow International
meets April 23
The Hillsboro chapter of Aglow International will hold their April
meeting on April 23 at 7 p.m. at the Ponderosa Banquet Center in Hillsboro.
There will be a special praise service with several spiritual singers,
testimonies and praise reports. The public is invited to come and bring a
friend.

Blood Bought Trio
concert April 22
A gospel concert featuring Blood Bought Trio will take place 11 a.m.
Sunday, April 22 at Bethel Shiloh Church of God. There will also be a drama
by "His Image." Everyone is welcome. The church is located at 2771 Oakland
Locust Ridge Road in Bethel, between 774 and Ogdens Ball Fields, four miles

Highland County Humane Society
fundraiser Saturday, April 21

A fundraiser for the Highland County Humane Society will be held Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Hillsboro Tractor Supply Company. There will be Avon products for sale and baskets to be raffled with Thirty-One bags, Longaberger baskets, Tastefully Simple foods, Scentsy candles, Pampered Chef kitchen accessories and more. All proceeds will benefit the Highland County Humane Society.

Central Ohio Classic Country Opry
announces upcoming shows

The Central Ohio Classic Country Opry will be returning to the Clay Township Park (the old Buford School) the first and third Saturday of each month!

Shows include:

• April 21 – Guest singers are Alyssa Oeder and David Schrenk.

• May 5 – Heather Roush and Scott Stamper are the headliners.

• May 19 – Terri Barnett and Rich Martin.

Admission is $8, and children under 12 are admitted free.
