New Directions golf tournament June 16
New Directions, Greenfield’s community youth ministry program, will be
sponsoring a golf tournament on Saturday, June 16 at Buckeye Hills Country
Club. Registration begins at 7 a.m.; the shotgun start will be at 8 a.m.
Each team will have four players. The fee is $50 per player, which will
include the 18 holes of golf, cart, food, and prizes. Payment is due at the
time of registration. Teams are encouraged to register by June 1.

send team information by June 1.
New Directions is also seeking sponsors for the tournament. Sponsorships are
$100 per hole, $50 for one-half hole, $25 for one-quarter hole. To sponsor a

Sponsorships may also be sent to New Directions, P.O. Box 26, Greenfield,
Ohio 45123. Sponsorships will be displayed at the tournament. Donations of
prizes are also appreciated.
The proceeds of the tournament will be used for the New Directions Youth
Ministry projects and activities. All are invited to join us June 16 for and
enjoy golf, prizes, food and fellowship.

The Rocky Fork Lake/Rainsboro area has a new meeting of AA at Rainsboro
United Methodist Church, Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. In addition, there will
be Al-Anon support meetings Saturdays at the church.

The Highland County House of Prayer, Inc. will hold monthly board
meetings on the last Wednesday of each month. The meetings will take place

Flea markets at
Sardinia Veterans Park
A monthly flea market will be held at the Sardinia Veterans Park on the
first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.,from May-Sept. 1. Anyone
with crafts or other items to sell is welcome. There will not be a set
rental fee; it will be by donation only. All donations will be used to
upgrade and maintain the Veterans Park. Anyone interested can call (937)

Engineer’s Office
summer hours
The following are the 2012 summer hours for the Highland County
Engineer’s Office and County Highway Department. Effective through Oct. 4,
2012, the Highland County Engineer’s Office and County Highway Department
will be working four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30
p.m. After-hour emergencies will continue to be handled by calling the
Highland County Sheriff at 393-1421.
Classic Country Opry upcoming shows
The Central Ohio Classic Country Opry will be returning to the Clay
Township Park (the old Buford School) the first and third Saturday of each
month.
Shows include: May 19 – Terri Barnett and Rich Martin.
Admission is $8, and children under 12 are admitted free.
Concessions are open throughout the evening and the doors open at 6 p.m.
The show is from 7-9:30 p.m.
Hillsboro-area AAUW
accepting scholarship
applications
The Hillsboro-area AAUW is currently accepting applications for the 2012
scholarships. The applicant must be a current resident of Highland County
and must have resided in Highland County for the last two years. The
scholarships are awarded to “non-traditional” female students whose
education has been interrupted or delayed. Applications are available at the
libraries in Highland County or any AAUW member. All applications must be

The 83rd anniversary meeting of the Buford Alumni Association will be

Satch Fittro Memorial Golf Outing
The second annual Satch Fittro Memorial Golf Outing will be held
Saturday, May 19 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Whiteoak Golf Course. The
cost is $260 per team. Proceeds go to the Lynchburg-Clay Athletic Department
in memory of Satch Fittro. The first-place and second-place winners will
receive a cash prize. Prizes will also be awarded for longest drive, longest

Youth Football league
The Hillsboro Youth Football league is currently looking for volunteer
coaches for levels at grades 3-6. Coaches must be able to attend scheduled
practices and games. Experience is preferred, but not required. All
applicants must pass a background check and be CPR certified (certification
will be made available to selected staff). Applications may be picked up at

Habitat for Humanity
bowl-a-thon May 19
A Bowl-A-Thon to benefit the Highland County Habitat for Humanity will
be held at Highland Lanes on Saturday, May 19 from 4-7 p.m. Open bowling is
$150 with up to five people per lane. There will be prizes and a silent
auction. The event is also sponsored by Mountain Dew, Pepsi, Brunswick and
PBA Tour. Donors may choose to buy a lane for $150, sponsor a lane for $100,

Easton’s Purpose Run June 9 at fairgrounds
Easton’s Purpose will hold Easton’s Run June 9 at the Highland County
Fairgrounds. Registration starts at 10 a.m., with the event kicking off at
noon. Bikes, classic cars or anyone wanting to participate in the event is
welcome to attend. There will be music, food, raffles and a 50/50 drawing.
All proceeds will go to Easton’s Purpose, a foundation created by family and
friends of Easton Williams because living with cerebral palsy should not

Open Door free meal May 26
The Open Door free meal will be held at the Greenfield United Methodist
Church on Saturday, May 26. Serving will be from 4-5:30 p.m. The menu will

Greenfield community
yard sale June 8-9
Greenfield will be holding communitywide yard sale on June 8-9. Yard sales
will be held at individual residences across the village. The hours are from
8 a.m.-8 p.m. on both days.
Community walks in support and preparation of the event are being
scheduled. The business community is invited to participate with sidewalk
sales, discounts, opening their restroom facilities to shoppers and
sponsoring "park and shop" locations to cut down on traffic congestion.
All shoppers are invited downtown for lunchtime entertainment with local
musicians while enjoying local food and refreshments.
Pricetown Church of Christ
hosts Memorial Day events
Pricetown Church of Christ will hold Memorial Day events on May 28,
beginning with a march to the cemetery at 10 a.m. There will be a program at
the church at 11 a.m., followed by a community fellowship dinner from noon -
2 p.m. The events are free and open to all.

Fall Creek Friends will have a one-day Vacation Bible School on

Fairfield Fun Run
set for May 19
Small Town Sisters of Leesburg will sponsor the Fairfield Fun Run, a 5K
run/1 mile walk, on Saturday, May 19. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the
Leesburg Fire and Rescue Building. The course consists of a flat route out
and back. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Entry fees are $15 for the 5K run
and a T-shirt; $10 for the 5K walk and a T-shirt; or $5 for the walk and no
T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top overall male and female winners and
runners-up. Proceeds will benefit Fairfield Local Schools and other

The Buford Cemetery will hold a Memorial Day Service May 28 at 11 a.m.
Guest speaker will be Bob Hodson. Whiteoak Marching Band will perform. The

Scholarship Tournament
St. Mary Catholic School in Hillsboro will be holding the annual Joe Penn
Scholarship Golf Tournament on June 23 at the Hillsboro Elks Golf Course.
Tee times are 8 a.m. or 1 p.m. The cost is $200 per team and hole sponsors
are also available for $100. There will a 50/50 drawing, raffles prizes and
lunch is included for all the players at noon. This is the only scholarship
fund-raiser for the school and it benefits many deserving students and
