Fish fry May 12 at
Rainsboro School Shelter House
A fish fry will be held at the Rainsboro School Shelter House on May 12 from
4-10 p.m. There will be tub raffles, games, blow-ups and dunk tank, music
and dancing, corn hole and much more. The menu will include a fish sandwich
with fries, cole slaw and a drink for $6; hot dog, fries and drink for $4; and desserts for $1. The shelter house is located at 12916 Barrett Mill Road, Bainbridge.
AA meetings in Rainsboro
The Rocky Fork Lake/Rainsboro area has a new meeting of AA at Rainsboro
United Methodist Church, Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. In addition, there will
be Al-Anon support meetings Saturdays at the church.
House of Prayer
board meetings
The Highland County House of Prayer, Inc. will hold monthly board
meetings on the last Wednesday of each month. The meetings will take place
at the home of Marvin and Becky Gotherman, 100 West Union Pike, Hillsboro at

Flea markets at
Sardinia Veterans Park
A monthly flea market will be held at the Sardinia Veterans Park on the
first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.,from May-Sept. 1. Anyone
with crafts or other items to sell is welcome. There will not be a set
rental fee; it will be by donation only. All donations will be used to
upgrade and maintain the Veterans Park. Anyone interested can call (937)

The Highland County Republican Central Committee will meet the fourth
Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Highland County Administration

Engineer’s Office
summer hours
The following are the 2012 summer hours for the Highland County
Engineer’s Office and County Highway Department. Effective through Oct. 4,
2012, the Highland County Engineer’s Office and County Highway Department
will be working four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 5:30
p.m. After-hour emergencies will continue to be handled by calling the
Highland County Sheriff at 393-1421.
Classic Country Opry upcoming shows
The Central Ohio Classic Country Opry will be returning to the Clay
Township Park (the old Buford School) the first and third Saturday of each
month.
Shows include: May 19 – Terri Barnett and Rich Martin.
Admission is $8, and children under 12 are admitted free.
Concessions are open throughout the evening and the doors open at 6 p.m.
The show is from 7-9:30 p.m.
Hillsboro-area AAUW
accepting scholarship
applications
The Hillsboro-area AAUW is currently accepting applications for the 2012
scholarships. The applicant must be a current resident of Highland County
and must have resided in Highland County for the last two years. The
scholarships are awarded to “non-traditional” female students whose
education has been interrupted or delayed. Applications are available at the
libraries in Highland County or any AAUW member. All applications must be

The Celebrate Victory Recovery Program meets every Tuesday night at 7
p.m. at ReaLife Church, located at 230 West South Street, Hillsboro.
Alzheimer’s Support
Group meetings
The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati will sponsor a
Highland County Alzheimer’s/Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group on the
third Monday of each month from 5-6:30 p.m. at Highland District Hospital.

The Hillsboro Eagles host bingo on Thursday nights. Doors open at 5:30

New Life Church and Ministries host
Blast into the Summer
New Life Church and Ministries, 6101 state Route 247, Hillsboro, is
having their first “Blast into the Summer” (BITS) Arts and Crafts Festival
on Saturday, June 2.
They will have games, a dunking booth, rides, prizes, arts and crafts,

A Bowl-A-Thon to benefit the Highland County Habitat for Humanity will be

$150 with up to five people per lane. There will be prizes and a silent
auction. The event is also sponsored by Mountain Dew, Pepsi, Brunswick and
PBA Tour. Donors may choose to buy a lane for $150, sponsor a lane for $100,

Buford School
alumni meeting set
The 83rd anniversary meeting of the Buford Alumni Association will be
held on Saturday, May 26 at the Clay Township Park Building (Old Buford
School). A catered buffet style dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. All
former students of the Buford School are encouraged to attend and renew old

Satch Fittro Memorial Golf Outing
The second annual Satch Fittro Memorial Golf Outing will be held
Saturday, May 19 with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. at Whiteoak Golf Course. The
cost is $260 per team. Proceeds go to the Lynchburg-Clay Athletic Department
in memory of Satch Fittro. The first-place and second-place winners will
receive a cash prize. Prizes will also be awarded for longest drive, longest
putt and closest to the pin. Lunch will be served following the outing. For

Coaches needed for
Youth Football league
The Hillsboro Youth Football league is currently looking for volunteer
coaches for levels at grades 3-6. Coaches must be able to attend scheduled
practices and games. Experience is preferred, but not required. All
applicants must pass a background check and be CPR certified (certification
will be made available to selected staff). Applications may be picked up at
the following locations: CVS and Walgreens Pharmacies in Hillsboro and the

Highland County Retired Teachers
luncheon May 7
The Highland County Retired Teachers will hold their spring luncheon May
7 at the Highland County Senior Citizens Center. Lunch will be served at
noon, and the President of ORTA, Dave Ginn, will be the guest speaker
beginning at 12:45 p.m. Retired teachers and guests are reminded to bring
paper products and/or feminine hygiene products, or they may make a donation
to help buy these items. In the past three years, the HCRTA has collected
and donated to the local charities and all Highland County schools.
