CMH Regional Health System's new board blend of new members, familiar faces

CMH Regional Health System’s first board since being acquired by RegionalCare Hospital Partners in December of 2010 is a blend of new members and holdovers from the previous board.
Bob Wagenseller remains the board chairman and Marcy Hawley is still the vice chair. Other holdover members are Dr. Philip Aschi, Dr. Christine Henry, Jim Hobart, and Steve Pidgeon. New members are Dr. Catherine LaRuffa, Dr. Tom Matrka, and CMH president and chief executive officer Dr. Michael Choo, who is also the board secretary.
All physician board members are on the CMH medical staff.
The appointments were effective in December.
“Our new board maintains the quality representation from the community that we have always had as well as an expanded voice for our medical staff by adding new members, Dr. LaRuffa and Dr. Matrka,” Dr. Choo said. “We are positioning CMH to be your regional healthcare provider for years to come.”
CMH Regional Health System is anchored by Wilmington-based Clinton Memorial Hospital, a medical/surgical acute care hospital founded in 1951. The hospital has medical, surgical, telemetry, observation, intensive care, obstetrics, inpatient rehabilitation, and pediatric beds and also offers wound care and a sleep laboratory. Emergency Services is staffed only by board-certified emergency medicine-trained physicians.
CMH has a wide-range of radiology services, including interventional radiology, and also offers a variety of services away from the main campus--home care, occupational health, a dental clinic, a family practice residency program, outpatient rehabilitation and system-owned physician practices in family medicine, neurology and obstetrics and gynecology.
The Foster J. Boyd, MD, Regional Cancer Center opened in February 2007 across Main Street from the hospital.
CMH has a medical staff of more than 200 physicians representing 35 different sub-specialties, employs more than 900 people, and has more than 100 volunteers.
