Blanchester Downtown Development to roast fire chief

The Blanchester Downtown Development Committee will kick off its first event of 2010 by ROASTING one of Blanchester’s long-serving public servants, Donald Walker. Walker, who has worn many hats during a lifelong career with the village including stints with the Life Squad, the Blanchester Board of Public Affairs and the Blanchester Fire Department, is currently Blanchester’s Fire Chief. It is fitting and proper that Blanchester citizens have this opportunity to bestow their affection and a little bit of chicanery upon a gentleman who needs no introduction but deserves recognition. The event will take place in the Municipal Cafeteria on Cherry Street beginning with registration at 5.30 and dinner at 6:00 PM on Saturday March 6.
Dinner will also include the opportunity by participants to help decide who can conjure up the best meatloaf, Elizabeth Nichols, representing the women or Jim Gregory, representing the men. Besides the meatloaf, dinner will include real mashed potatoes, roll, gravy, green beans, cake, coffee, tea or punch all for the paltry sum of $6.00 for adults and $3.50 for children under ten. Those not wishing to eat may come at 6:30 and enjoy the roast only for $3.00 per person. Anyone wishing to attend must call in their reservation prior to 3:00 PM on March 3rd. Judging from the interest to date, it is possible we may need to limit the number of participants. Please call 783-4993 or 289-2461 at your earliest convenience and before the deadline.
