Altrusa International of Highland County has received a grant from the Altrusa International Foundation, Inc. to support its Stars, Stripes and Stockings project, an initiative dedicated to honoring and assisting Highland County veterans during the Christmas season.

The grant will help provide Christmas gifts, personal hygiene items, and books to local veterans, bringing comfort, encouragement, and appreciation to those who have served our nation. Through the project, Altrusa members work to brighten the holidays for veterans while recognizing their sacrifices and contributions to the community. 

“This project allows us to show our gratitude to Highland County veterans in a meaningful way,” said Sherri Helterbrand, president of Altrusa International of Highland County. “The support of the Altrusa International Foundation will help us reach more veterans and make the holiday season a little brighter for them.”

The Altrusa Foundation provides grants ranging from $250 to $2,500 to sponsoring Altrusa clubs around the world. These grants support projects that improve economic well-being and quality of life through community service, literacy, and assistance to those in need.

Established as a charitable corporation in 1962, the Altrusa International Foundation is committed to advancing the service goals and objectives of Altrusa International, Inc. The Foundation assists Altrusa clubs and other worthy organizations in carrying out programs that strengthen communities and improve lives. 

The Stars, Stripes and Stockings project reflects Altrusa International of Highland County’s ongoing commitment to service and its dedication to supporting local veterans throughout the year.
