60th reunion held for the Hillsboro High School class of 1965

The Hillsboro High School class of 1965 held its 60th reunion at the beautiful new Ivory Grande event center on Ivory Lane, in Hillsboro on July 19.
Fifty-six guests were in attendance, including 36 of the 144 classmates who graduated in 1965. The class holds the distinction of being the first to hold an outdoor graduation on Richards Memorial Field. It was also the largest class up to that point, with an estimated 1,200 to 1,500 in attendance to watch the graduation ceremony.
The evening opened with an introduction of classmates, followed by a tribute to the class’s 47 deceased class members. Veterans of the class were also recognized for their commitment and service to the country.
Members viewed several displays of old and current photos, pictures of Hillsboro in its former days and other memorabilia.
Door prizes were awarded for traveling the farthest, most grandchildren, most surgeries, and answering correctly a quiz on 1965 events. Avery Garricks catered the delicious meal and Sheri Puckett served as D.J. for the evening. Members hope to meet again in 2030 for the 65th reunion.
