William "Billy" W. Marshall Jr.

William "Billy" W. Marshall Jr., of Hillsboro, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Jan. 3, 2026.

Born on Sept. 24, 1941 in Harwood, Billy was the son of the late William W. and Hilda (Allen) Marshall Sr. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Curt Hicks; and a sister, Janet Glenn.

Billy spent his life dedicated to his family and career as a service technician in the agriculture industry, working with Luschek John Deere and Mayer Farm Equipment until his retirement.

Billy was known for his love of the outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing or tending to his garden, he found joy in nature and the simple pleasures of life. He was also a devoted dog lover and took pride in building log splitters.

He is survived by his loving wife, Reba (Dean) Marshall; son, Mike (Vicky) Marshall; daughter, Barbara Hicks; grandchildren, Curtis (Rachel) Hicks, Daniel (Jessica) Hicks, Michael Marshall and Steven (Megan) Hicks; great-grandchildren, Paris, Faith, Nash, and Jase Hicks; two sisters, Mary Bowling and Carol (Delbert) Harless; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 at the funeral home. Dr. Rev. Dan Lamb will officiate services.

Graveside service will follow at Hamer Township Cemetery.

Family requests memorials to the Mission Fund at Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church or St. Jude.
