Thomas F. Orcutt, 94, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday afternoon, Dec. 20, 2012 at the Highland District Hospital.

He was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Burlington, Wash., the son of the late Isaac N. and Dora P. (Miller) Orcutt.

He retired from the United States Air Force in 1967 as a Master Sergeant after more than 26 years of active duty, then continued to work for an additional 15 years at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, continuing his work in the Aerospace Research Laboratory. During and after his active duty, many of his contributions were for the development and manufacture of certain components of the Saturn V Rocket, which carried the Apollo astronauts to the moon.

On June 6, 1943, in Clayton, Ala., he married his wife of 69 years, Koree (Reaves) Orcutt, and she survives.

He is also survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Edie Orcutt of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Jeremiah (Jennifer) Orcutt, stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, Mindy (Jeremy) Cox of New Vienna, Krista Davidson of Blanchester and Randall Davidson of Wilmington; six great-grandchildren, Thomas Orcutt, Nathan Orcutt and Logan Orcutt, all of Illinois, Zackary Cox and Bryant Cox, both of New Vienna and Zoe Davidson of Blanchester; a sister, Jolene Wilkerson of Sedro-Woolley, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews, as well as many friends from wonderful times spent with the Newmar Kountry Kampers.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow at the New Market Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
