Thomas Edward Hatch, 61, passed away on Aug. 9, 2012, at his home in Batavia.

He was born May 16, 1951, the son of Evelyn A. and the late Donald F. Hatch.

He will be greatly missed by his loving mother, Evelyn Hatch; devoted companion and life-long friend, Vicki Davis Darter; caring sister, Linda Normoyle; children, Leslie Hatch (Chris) Fitzpatrick, Danielle (Brian) Mayer, Nyssa Darter and Bradley Darter; grandchildren, Ella Fitzpatrick, Owen Mayer and Sam Mayer; and many wonderful friends.

He was employed by the U.S. Shoe Factory in Greenfield before leaving to begin his own business, Hatch Construction. More recently, he was employed by Towne Properties of Cincinnati.

He was known for his uncanny knowledge and unmatched expertise in carpentry/construction to anyone in need. He could always be depended upon to fix, patch, build, frame, roof, paint, mold, or create whatever was needed, all while including advice, trivia and other bits of knowledge, free of charge.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 5-8 p.m. at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home Greenfield.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, officiated by Pastor Larry Maynard, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg.
