Stephen E. McConnaughey, 64, of the Buford community, died Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born May 9, 1945 in Danville, Ohio, son of Charles Elwood McConnaughey and Virginia E. Mock McConnaughey .
Steve was a member and Elder at the Sugartree Ridge Church of Christ; was a Buford Park Commissioner for several years; a graduate of Buford High School Class of 1963; and was a life-long farmer and had retired from Blue Flame after several years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly A. McConnaughey, whom he married July 2, 1965; two daughters, Katrina (Gale) Allen of Dodsonville, and Regina (Danny) Croy of Buford, four sons, Mike (Candice) McConnaughey of Milford, Chad (Becky) McConnaughey of Lynchburg, Nathan (Sherry) McConnaughey of Vandalia, and Jason McConnaughey of Danville. Also surviving are his mother, Virginia E. McConnaughey of Danville; one brother, Jerry McConnaughey of Danville; two sisters, Sandy Richmond of Milford, and Nikki (Ron) Tracy of Sardinia; 12 grandchildren, Steven Collins, Jacob Allen, Felicia Croy and her fiancee, Brody Burson, Blake Croy, Jordan McConnaughey, Braydon McConnaughey, Gavin McConnaughey, Hayley McConnaughey, Ethan McConnaughey, Will McConnaughey, Grant McConnaughey, and Emery McConnaughey. Other survivors include a nephew, Robert Tracy, a niece, Jenna Tracy, both of Sardinia, Ashley (Bryan) Weiss, of St. Louis, and a host of other family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Elwood McConnaughey.
Services will be held at Sugartree Ridge Church of Christ, May 11  at 11 a.m. with Pastors Drue Lane, Dannie Dodds, and Dan Knisley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the church on Monday, May 10 4-8 p.m.
