S. Winfield Young, 92, of Mowrystown died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown.

He was born Aug. 9, 1918 in Mowrystown, the son of the late Noah Young and Ida (Badgeley) Young.

He was a member of the Mowrystown Church of Christ.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a life member of the Roy W. Wilson American Legion Post, a member of the K of P Lodge, had coached Knothole Baseball for several years, was the manager of the Pepsi Cola distributorship, was a longtime farmer in the Mowrystown area, and had worked at Union Stockyards from 1958-62.

Survivors include three sons, Flick (Mary) Young, Ritchie (Julie) Young, and Kip Young all of Mowrystown; one daughter, Kristie (Tom) Miller of Sardinia; seven grandchildren, Melissa Young, Amberly Miller, Erin (Todd) Richmond, Kyle Young, Chad Young, Craig Miller, and Nathanael Young. Also surviving iare one sister, Velma Juillerat, of Hillsboro; former wife, Martha Perry of Maysville, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by his first wife, Vrea Pointer Young, who died Nov. 24, 1964; and wife, Beulah Sonner Young, who died May 18, 1997; one sister, Irma Watson; and two brothers, Henry and Dwight Young.

Services will be held at Mowrystown Church of Christ, Friday, June 3 at 11 a.m., with Pastors Jerry Mueller and Jason Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery, where the Highland County Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.

Friends will be received at the Mowrystown Church of Christ Thursday, June 2 from 5-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
