Robert E. “Bob” Brown, 81, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at the Ohio Veterans Home at Georgetown.

He was born in Rainsboro on Aug. 16, 1931, the son of the late Jesse and Gladys (Newkirk) Brown.

He retired from the USPS at the Hillsboro office in 1988. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the DAV.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Nesbit) Brown, on May 10, 1999; four brothers, Paul Brown, Clarence Woodrow Brown, John Brown and Cecil Brown; and one sister, Mildred Swisshelm.

He is survived by two sons, Bob Brown and Greg Brown, both of Hillsboro; one sister, Ann Jordan of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Norma Brown of Peebles; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Mildred Nesbitt of Hillsboro, Kenneth Nesbitt of Wilmington and Tom and Martha Nesbit of Hillsboro; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Pfeffer of Hillsboro, Alice Runyon of Hillsboro and Beverly Nesbitt of Hillsboro; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the New Market Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.                                   

Memorials may be made to Highland County Humane Society or Highland County Dog Pound Volunteer Program.
