Richard L. Williams

Richard L. Williams, 73, of Hillsboro died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Mt. Carmel West Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born Sept. 18, 1939 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Roger F. and Augusta Cumberland Williams.
Mr. Williams was a retired ship fitter for the Electric Boat Corporation of General Dynamics. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, the American Legion Don Gentile Post in Columbus and had served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Highland County Community Action Program.
He is survived by three daughters, Tara Louise Ives, Markise Ives and Yvette Kenner all of Providence, R.I.; two step-children, James Ives of Georgia and Bobbie Ives of Florida; several grandchildren; one sister, Louise Smith of Hillsboro; and one sister-in-law, Marilyn Williams of Hillsboro.
He was preceded in death by three step-children, Robin Ives, John Robinson and Bruce Ives; and one brother, Paul Williams.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 17 at the New Hope Baptist Church.
Burial, with Military Honors accorded by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church.
