Richard E. Michael passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 27, 2012 at the age of 72, with his family by his side.
He was born on April 15, 1940, to Donald E. and Elena Loree (Maxwell) Michael.
On Sept. 20, 1964, he was married to Carolyn (Hastings) Michael, who survives. Two children were born to this union, Kelli (Brian) Williamson and Richard Scott (Rhonda) Michael. Four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren also survive, Mackenzie and Jordan Williamson; and Gracie and Cole Michael, and Meagan and Jordan Prickett.
Five siblings also survive: Bill (Karen) Michael, Donna (Jerry) Shelton, Carla (Vic) Gall, Debi (Dennis) Hauke and John (Diane) Michael; and one sister and brother-in-law, Glenna (Gary) Leeth; and special friend, Ty Sanders.
All of his remaining nieces and nephews were very special to him, plus a host of friends and neighbors.
Richard attended the Prospect United Methodist Church, and was working, sometimes without anyone knowing, on improvements at the church. He was a 4-H adviser for over 25 years, loved attending the fair and watching the youth to do their best. Richard loved sports, especially basketball and girls softball being his favorites.
Richard was a quiet, gentle man who loved his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors. It was said he had a magical touch when it came to children and youth. Everyone knew him as Chief. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
