Richard C. McMurray, 86, of Middletown, died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Atrium Medical Center in Middletown.
He was born Jan. 28, 1925 in Washington C.H., the son of the late Worley C. and Louise (Dellinger) McMurray.
He was retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Company after 25 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 218 of Middletown and McNair Memorial Presbyterian Church in Washington C.H. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII in Europe and re-enlisted and served during the Korean War.
He is survived by two sons, Gary (Vicki) McMurray of Middletown and James (Debbie) McMurray of Stow; three grandchildren, Laurie (Mike), Andrew (Melissa), and Nicholas; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McMurray, on Sept. 2, 2004; two brothers; and one sister.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Steven Watters officiating. Burial will follow in the Hightop Cemetery in Samantha. A visitation will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA Chapter of choice.
