Reba A. West

Reba A. West, 95, of Hillsboro passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Highland District Hospital.
She was born Oct. 18, 1918 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Glenn and Alta (Frost) Abernathy.
Mrs. West was a schoolteacher for the Hillsboro Schools and New Vienna Schools for 33 years. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, the Church of Christ T.H.E.O. Group, the Ohio Teachers Retirement Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by three children, Victor E. (Beverly) West of Hillsboro, Barbara E. (Danny Morgan) Fleming of Hillsboro and Linda E. (Jim) Howe of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren, Brian (Tammy) West, Katina (David) Duncan, Kristi (Edwin Powell) Waters, Brad (Jessica Hall) Griffith, April Storms, Heather (Bryan) Corwin, Stephanie (David) Ralston, Meredith Easton, Christian (Katrina) Howe, Eric (Heather) Howe and James (Caitlin) Howe; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two siblings, Marjorie Pulse of Lynchburg and John Abernathy of Hillsboro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. West on May 6, 2002; and one brother, Murden Abernathy.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ. John Porter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, May 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home.
